Shady Grove Christian Church
Shady Grove Church was first organized in 1840. William McLeod owned the land that the first church was started on. Catherine McLeod and her father built what was a brush arbor. This was located across the road from the present church.
William McLeod and his daughter was very instrumental in erecting the first " real " church building, a log building. The log building was located back of the present church near the spring. To our knowledge there is no pictures of the log church.
A second church building was built before 1890. This white frame church was located near the present church building to the backside right. In 1957 a brick structure was built and in 1971 an educational wing was added to give us our present church.
More information about the church and cemetery can be found in the church cemetery book available from the Joy Sisters.
